Walking Water Experiment

Science in Room 12

The Walking Water experiment was super easy to set-up and Room 12 enjoyed observing the coloured water walk along paper towels and fill an empty glass. It was very cool!

Walking Water Experiment
·         At least 3 empty glasses
·         Water
·         Food colouring or dye
·         Paper towels

First we chose the colours we wanted to mix.  Half of the class did red

and blue and the other half did blue and orange.  We then filled a

glass for each colour and added food colouring.  An additional empty

glass of the same size for each pair of colours was placed in the

middle. We then cut up a paper towel and carefully placed it in the

glasses.

We then… sat and watched as the colours ‘walked along’ the paper and into the next glass!

This group of boys combined and placed their glasses in an interesting arrangement!  What a cool idea and it worked so well!  The colours crossed paths and after a while mixed beautifully!(Authors: Ms Latulipe and Jada)
